This vintage t-shirt was most likely a keepsake from a trip during 1981. Mammoth could be referencing a few places but is most likely referencing either Mammoth Lakes, California or Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. The former is a popular destination all year round, offering skiing in the winter and fishing and hiking in the summer. Mammoth Springs is a section of the massive, Yellowstone National Park known for its hilly, travertine hot springs. Visitors to Mammoth can walk through the terrace-like hills on wooden boardwalks and its common to see elk lounging in the springs.
