This sweet tee was made for the 1984 Summer Olympics hosted in Los Angeles. LA84 saw 140 National Olympic Committees competing, and these record breaking numbers were despite a boycott from several Eastern Bloc countries. The games involved over 200 events in 21 different sports including basketball, rowing, archery, volleyball, wrestling, and field hockey, but this particular tee highlights the track and field events.

The United States wound up taking home the most medals at LA84, including 83 gold medals. During the track and field events, American athlete Carl Lewis took home four gold medals for the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 100 meter relay, and the long jump. Edwin Moses also earned a gold medal for the US, as did Joan Benoit, who managed to win the first Olympic marathon held for female athletes.
