This phenomenal sweatshirt is to celebrate one of the greatest musicians of all time, Jimi Hendrix.  James Marshall Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington in 1942. He grew up in poverty and lost his mother at the age of sixteen. Hendrix was captivated by the guitar at a young age and spent most of his short life mastering the instrument.

Jimi Hendrix died at the age of 27 in 1970 but remained incredibly popular for decades after his death. This sweatshirt is from the 80s, when the grunge sound was forming and took a lot of influence from the distortion and muddy sounds Hendrix loved. Grunge music has roots in Seattle, as did Jimi Hendrix. In 1992, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2000, Seattle opened the EMP. The EMP, the Experience Music Project, has since changed their name to Museum of Pop Culture, but the museum still has the largest collection of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia in the world.
