This sweet vintage 70s tee reads "Make Mine Women", and has a graphic of two intertwined Venus symbols. The Venus symbol has been a common image used to represent the female gender as far back as the mid 1700s, and this variation on it was designed to represent same sex attraction between women.

Once the Gay Liberation movement was kicked off in the late 60s, the 1970s became both an exciting and tumultuous time for lesbians in America. The fight for gay rights progressed to the point that the American Psychiatric Association officially changed their definition of homosexuality, which had previously labeled same sex attraction as a mental illness. Then in 1974 Mareen Colquhoun came out as the first Lesbian Member of Parliament. These advancements all coincided with the second wave of feminism, and as a result a generation of lesbian feminists were born to try and fight for the rights of both groups.
