This rad tee commemorates the rock band The Cult and their 1989 album Sonic Temple. Founding members Ian Astbury, Jamie Stewart, and Billy Duffy were joined by new addition Matt Sorum for their fourth studio album. The Cult, originally named Southern Death Cult, formed in the early 80s in England. By the mid 80s, they achieved some mainstream success with their albums Love and Electric and they toured with bands like Aerosmith, Metallica, and the relatively unknown at the time Guns N' Roses.

Sonic Temple was their most successful album at the time. It included the hit tracks "Fire Woman" and "Edie (Ciao Baby)" which remain some of the bands most well known songs. The album was a bit of a departure from The Cult's previous work. Sonic Temple had more of a glam metal sound than the post-punk, goth rock music they made early in their career. Critically, reviews were mixed but the album was their most accessible so far and secured a wider fan base for the band.
