This vintage band tee is from 1993 and it promotes arguably the most iconic band of the 90s grunge movement, Nirvana. The shirt features the same image used for the cover art of their 1993 single "All Apologies" which shows a seahorse giving birth. The song was the final track off of the band's third studio album In Utero, and it was released as a double A-side alongside the single "Rape Me". The song was also notable for being the final single released before Kurt Cobain's suicide four months later.

The song became Nirvana's third number one hit on the Modern Rock charts and was also included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's lists of "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" alongside the group's breakout hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Cobain had originally hoped to record an accompanying music video for the song. He discussed the concept with comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, who opened for the band at several shows during the In Utero Tour. Together the two imagined a scenario in which Cobain performed the song as Lee Harvey Oswald about to assassinate John F. Kennedy, however because MTV didn't allow guns in videos, Cobain would have hit Kennedy with a pie instead. Although the video didn't come to fruition, MTV began airing the MTV Unplugged version of the song as a music video shortly after it was recorded.

Nirvana was first formed in 1987 by Cobain and bassist Krist Novolselic. They went through a number of drummers before finally settling on Dave Grohl in 1990. The band found unexpected mainstream success after they were signed by the major label DGC Records in 1991. Their second album titled Nevermind became a cultural phenomenon and went certified Diamond by the RIAA. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 75 million records and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. During the induction ceremony the song "All Apologies" was performed with the surviving members of the group Novoselic and Grohl, and Lorde providing the lead vocals.
