This sweet vintage t-shirt is a keepsake from the Rolling Stones North American Tour 1981. This tour was in promotion of their album Tattoo You, which mostly consisted of studio outtakes from the 70s that didn't make it on to other albums. Some hit tracks from Tattoo You include "Waiting on a Friend" and "Start Me Up," the latter being one of the Rolling Stones most popular songs to date. Tattoo You was the Stones' 8th consecutive album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 and it consistently appears on "Greatest Albums" lists.

The Rolling Stones North American Tour 1981 was a huge success for the band. It was the highest grossing tour of the year and an estimated 2 million fans attended over the span of 50 shows. The band wanted the stage design to be a deliberate nod to American culture so it included imagery like enormous guitars, cars, and records. The tour also overlapped with Keith Richards' 38th birthday so the band thought to capitalize on this and hosted "The World's Greatest Rock' n Roll Party." The party was broadcast on pay-per-view, which marked the first time a music event had been marketed in this way.

Some highlights from the tour include the Kansas City show when former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor joined the band for most of the show and Tina Turner hopped on stage to sing "Honky Tonk Women." At one of the Los Angeles shows, the Stones had three openers and the first two, George Thorogood and The J Geils Band, were well received but the third and relatively unknown opener, Prince, was booed off the stage after only three songs.
