This vintage tee is totally blank on the front, but the back has the word Captain written boldly across the top, above a graphic of a ship's anchor. This classic pocket tee was made by the popular department store chain JCPenney, which actually originated as a collection of dry goods stores in 1902. The back graphic has somewhat of a hand-painted feel, suggesting that it may have been carefully custom made.  

The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult large. There is some discoloration near the shoulder and collar, see pics.
