This amazing vintage tee pays tribute to one of the most iconic punk bands to emerge out of the 1970s. This shirt promotes the English band the Sex Pistols, who first burst onto the UK scene in 1975. While the band's initial career lasted less than three years, their impact remains undeniable. Many people have credited the group with launching the punk movement in the United Kingdom, and bands that range from Guns N' Roses to Green Day have all credited the Sex Pistols as an inspiration.
What perhaps made the Sex Pistols so iconic, was the way their style and public image was sometimes more enthralling than their actual music. The band was managed by Malcolm McLaren, who alongside Vivienne Westwood, co-owned a clothing shopthat was integral to the formation of the UK's early punk scene. The shop, which was dubbed Sex, supplied the clothing for the band's unique style, and they began to gain a following, that was primarily composed of disgruntled youths that felt a kinship with the band's abrasive, in-your-face attitudes. The band's philosophy was perhaps best summarized in an early interview where guitarist Steve Jones said, "we're not into music. We're into chaos".
This shirt was made during the Sex Pistols' heyday in the 70s, but since then the band has become known for their sole studio album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. They group was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, although true to their image, the group did not attend the induction ceremony.
Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. This shirt is soft, thin, and distressed, with cut off sleeves, and several holes, see pics.
