This sweet shirt commemorates the 1988 International Surf Festival sponsored by the Hermosa Beach newspaper the Daily Breeze. The celebrated beach festival dates back to 1962, when the cities of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach decided to hold a joint festival event together. The event was originally run by the local governments of the participating cities, but when budget cuts arose in the late 70s, the Daily Breeze stepped in to help under the condition that they be named the title sponsor.
