The 1980 Summer Olympics were held in Moscow, Russia. it was the first time the games were staged in Eastern Europe and the first to be held in a Slavic speaking country. It was also the only time the games were held in a communist country until the 2008 Summer Olympics in China. The games were boycotted by 66 countries in response to the Soviet war in Afghanistan and other various reasons. The United States of America led the boycott, and only 80 nations ended up participating in the games, the smallest number since 1956. This shirt was produced and pre-marketed before the boycott and non-attendance of the USA.
