This incredible tee is an original Mosquitohead that features a portrait of the Native American resistance leader, Sitting Bull. Sitting Bull was a Lakota leader who fought against white settlers' attempts to take over tribal land, and he is often remembered for uniting the Lakota tribes, against General Custer and his men, during the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Although he was later forced to surrender to US forces and eventually killed by Indian police officers, Sitting Bull was lauded for his dedication to protecting native lands, and his portrait remains a symbol of Native American resistance.

This sort of political subject matter was typical for the iconic t-shirt company known as Mosquitohead. While some of their shirts celebrated pop culture icons like Jimi Hendrix and Marilyn Monroe, others brought attention to political figures like Sitting Bull and Malcolm X. No matter what the subject matter however, Mosquitohead tees were always renowned for their unique and bold aesthetics. The company was created in Los Angeles by Robert Brandt and his business partner Paul, who wanted to recreate the magic of old DIY bootleg tees. To do this, they created a unique printing process that involved bleached shirts. The bleached out shirts provided a one-of-a-kind canvas for them to layer their bold collage graphics over top of, and the result was hand-printed apparel that was visually striking and highly sought-after.
