This amazing vintage sweatshirt commemorates an early production of Tony Kushner's Tony Award-winning play Angels in America. The show is split into two parts, Millennium Approaches and Perestroika. The show was commissioned by co-directing partners Oskar Eustis and Tony Taccone, and the first part premiered at the beginning of the decade and was performed while the second half was still in development. This sweatshirt celebrates the 1992 run of the show at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, which was the first production to feature both parts.
Angels in America, whose full title is actually Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, takes place in the 1980s and centers around the stigmas surrounding AIDS and homosexuality during the decade. The show made its debut on Broadway in 1993, and that same year the script also was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play garnered several other awards as well, including the Tony for Best Actor, which was given to Ron Leibman in the role of Roy Cohn, a character based on the real life lawyer.
Fits like a modern unisex adult extra large. There are some small spots throughout, see pics.
