This incredible tee pays tribute to the show Gargoyles, an animated series that was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation in the 90s. The show centered on a group of magical medieval stone gargoyles, who would come to life at night and protect the streets of New York City, and while the show was made for kids, the series had a notably dark and melodramatic tone that set it apart from other cartoons of the era. The show's complex storylines also earned it comparisons to the popular Batman: The Animated Series, and the series actually took a lot of inspiration from the works of William Shakespeare.

Gargoyles aired for three seasons from 1994 to 1997, and during that time it gained the acclaim of both critics and audiences. The show proved to have such a strong cult following, that from 1997 until 2009, it had its own dedicated fan convention called The Gathering of the Gargoyles. The show also boasted an impressive voice cast that included Ed Asner, Salli Richardson, and Keith David.
