This cool vintage tee commemorates the 35th anniversary of the Joffrey Ballet Company. The front of the tee reads "Joffrey 35" and the back features a graphic of a dancer mid stride. The Joffrey Ballet Company is one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world. It was founded in 1956 by life partners Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino and the company celebrated their 35th anniversary in 1991. Shortly after this milestone, the company settled permanently in Chicago but they continued to tour nationally and internationally. The Joffrey Ballet Company and Academy shouldn't be confused with the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City as the two claim no affiliation with one another.

To honor their 35th anniversary, the Joffrey Ballet went on a tour that they advertised as "a celebration of new American choreography." On the tour, they visited cities like New York and L.A. and they revived classic ballets such as Kurt Joos' "The Green Table," Robert Joffrey's own ballet, "Postcards," and several specially commissioned ballets. The company's performances were highly regarded by the dance world as being well done and in good taste. This was a time where many companies were suffering financially, so the Joffrey's success was all the more worthy of celebration.
