This shirt is a wonderful piece of LGBTQ history that celebrates gay pride and unity. It includes the definition of the word pride in front of a rainbow triangle, which combines two historic symbols of gay liberation. Gilbert Baker's original rainbow flag was first flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade in 1978. Meanwhile, pink triangles were first used in Nazi Germany to identify LGBTQ prisoners, but the symbol was later reclaimed, most notably during the 1980s when it was used by ACT UP alongside their Silence = Death slogan.

This shirt was made in the 90s, a decade of growth and rehabilitation for the LGBTQ community. While the AIDS crisis filled the 80s with considerable death and anguish, the 90s proved that the community was still very resilient. The first ever EuroPride march was staged in the 90s, and many LGBTQ people were excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
