This cool shirt is a souvenir from the 1970s from the Big Surf water park in Arizona. The shirt reads "Big Surf Phoenix, Arizona" and while the park catered to the Phoenix area, it was actually located in the nearby city of Tempe. The water park first opened in 1969, making this shirt one of its earliest souvenirs, and when it first opened, the main draw of the park was its wave pool. Recognized as the oldest wave pool in America, Big Surf didn't just entertain typical pool patrons, it also hosted surfing exhibitions and competitions. World Champion surfer, Fred Hemmings, was even there at the opening of the pool to ride the first ever man made wave at the park.
The tag says small but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult extra small. This shirt is distressed. It is soft and thin with a small hole and spot on the front and a run on the back, see pics.
