This t-shirt is from Grand Funk Railroad's album Shinin' On which was released by Capitol Records in 1974.  This album was the follow up to their super popular We're an American Band album, and it featured their cover of  "The Loco-Motion" which topped the US charts. The album was recorded in a Quadraphonic mix and released on Quadraphonic 8 track format.  This format was short lived, and this was one of the last albums recorded and released in what became known as Q8 format. The line-up for the album included Mark Farner, Craig Frost, Mel Schacher, and Don Brewer.

Throughout the 70s Grand Funk Railroad toured extensively and played to packed stadiums with their arena rock style. The band was formed in Flint, Michigan and their name was a play off of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad which ran through their hometown.
