The Eagles were first conceived back in 1933 as a replacement for the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets. During the early 70s, the Eagles were placed in the NFC East because of the merger, the same division as their bitter rivals the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. 1970 also saw the team playing their final season at Franklin Field before they were moved to Veterans Stadium.
