This unique cut tank top is for the English rock band Adam and the Ants. The band actually went through two major iterations between its founding in 1977 and its break-up in 1982. The only constant was front man Adam Ant. The first incarnation was originally just called The Ants and the group was relatively unpopular with UK music critics, although they did have a small following of dedicated fans who called themselves Antpeople. In 1980, Ant hired a new manager, Malcolm McLaren, who convinced members Matthew Ashman, Leigh Gorman, and Dave Barbe to leave the Ants and join Bow Wow Wow, another English new wave group.
The second incarnation of Adam and the Ants came a few months after, when Ant recruited Marco Pirroni and three other musicians to join the band. Pirroni and Ant co-wrote many of the band's songs and together, and they brought Adam and the Ants to a larger audience. During this second, more successful era, Adam and the Ants released the albums Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming, both of which dominated the UK charts. Some popular singles from those albums included "Antmusic," "Stand and Deliver," and "Dog Eat Dog." Adam and the Ants split in 1982 but Adam Ant continued his work as a solo artist.
