Alabama first hit the music scene in 1969, founded in Fort Payne, AL under the name Wildcountry. Its original members were cousins Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook. Together, the trio performed at numerous bars across the southeast USA throughout the early 1970s. Two of their singles found some chart success and they changed their name to Alabama in 1977.
Shortly after, the group landed a record deal with RCA Nashville and really found success in the 1980s, producing a whopping 27 number one hits. Among them were "Tennessee River"and "Mountain Music". This band tee is from 1983, which coincides with the release of their seventh album The Closer You Get, famous for Number One tracks like "Dixieland Delight" and "Lady Down on Love".
As the nineties rolled around, Alabama continued to crank out album releases like Pass It Down, American Pride, Cheap Seats, and In Pictures. Their legacy lives on thanks to unforgettable contributions to country and rock music and awesome memorabilia like this vintage band tee.
