This vintage concert tee is for Elvis Costello and the Attractions and their 1983 Summer tour of America. The back of the shirt includes the phrase "Clocking in across America" in reference to Costello's eighth studio album Punch the Clock, which the tour was used to promote. The album included Costello's first Top 40 hit, "Everyday I Write the Book". The music video for the single featured Prince Charles and Princess Diana lookalikes experiencing domestic strife within a suburban home. The album also utilized a female backing vocal duo known as Afrodiziak, and a four-piece horn section, the TKO Horns.
The album and tour was followed by the release of Goodbye Cruel World in 1984. However, during this time tensions between Costello and members of the Attractions, most notably bassist Bruce Thomas, began to rise. Costello announced his retirement and the break-up of the band. Costello's retirement would be short-lived though, as he released King of America in 1986. Prior to that a compilation album was released, The Best of Elvis Costello and the Attractions.
