This vintage concert tee is for John Mellencamp and it celebrates his 1987 to 1988 Tour that promoted his album The Lonesome Jubilee. This was Mellencamp's ninth studio album and one of his most successful worldwide. The album was released by Mercury Records and it featured four singles "Paper in Fire", "Cherry Bomb", "Check It Out", and "Rooty Toot Toot". During the promotional tour, Mellencamp was joined on stage by surprise guest, Bruce Springsteen, who joined the band in a duet of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone".
Prior to the recording and release of The Lonesome Jubilee, Mellencamp spent a lot of time on the road promoting his previous album Scarecrow. Scarecrow was the first album to be recorded at Mellencamp's own recording studio, and after its release Mellencamp helped to organize the first Farm Aid concert with Willie Nelson and Neil Young. The concert became an annual event used to help raise money for struggling family farmers. After The Lonesome Jubilee Tour, Mellencamp released his most serious and introspective album titled Big Daddy. This was also his last release under the stage name John Cougar Mellencamp.
