This awesome vintage tank top is from the Metallica 1989 Tour titled Damaged Justice. Damaged Justice was in support of Metallica's 1988 album ...And Justice For All. In addition to being critically acclaimed when it was released, the thrash metal album was the best selling Metallica release by that time. For the first time ever an underground metal group reached a chart position on the US Billboard. The platinum album sold more than 8 Million copies in the United States alone.
This shirt features an image of the album's cover art on the front, which was designed by Stephen Gorman based off of a concept by the band's guitarist James Hetfiled and drummer Lars Ulrich. The image depicts Lady Justice bound by ropes in order to reflect the album's lyrical themes of political and legal injustice. The album was nominated for a 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental but lost controversially to Jethro Tull.
