This purple tourist shirt is for the Bill Speidel's Underground Tour of Seattle. The Underground Tour was created when publicist Bill Speidel began researching the history of Pioneer Square in an attempt to restore the historic site. Eventually people began to inquire about newspaper rumors claiming that the ruins of early-day Seattle were hidden underneath the modern-day city. People wanted to see the ruins and demands for an underground tour were made. Eventually in the early 70s, the demands came to fruition and public tours were held for people to explore the remains of the early city, which had been destroyed in the Great Seattle Fire of 1889.
