The NHRA Summer Nationals has roots dating back to the 1960s, originally held in York, Pennsylvania. By 1971, the drag race moved to the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park just outside Englishtown, New Jersey.
The '81 event saw an awesome range of race car styles- like Carl Ruth's Pet Vette BB/FF; Craig Epperly's Super Star Amni F/C; a Super Bug VW; and a Chi-Town Hustler F/C.
