This sweet vintage band tee is for the Go-Go's from their 1984 Prime Time Tour. The tour was designed to promote their third studio album Talk Show, which was the last to feature the original line up of Charlotte Caffey, Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, and Jane Wiedlin until their 2001 release, God Bless the Go-Go's. In general, the album was considered a commercial disappointment, only managing to sell 500,000 copies. It did however include the top 40 single "Head Over Heels", which became a concert staple for the group.
Creative conflicts lead Wiedlin to leave the band after the tour was completed. She was originally replaced by Paula Jean, and the band proceeded to play two shows at the Rock in Rio festival, but they officially disbanded shortly afterward. They reunited in 1990 for a benefit concert supporting the California Environmental Protection Act, and then toured together regularly from the late 90s into the 2000s.
The Go-Go's were considered pioneers for the US new wave sound. They were nominated for Best New Artist at the 24th Annual Grammy Awards and are remembered for their hits "Our Lips Are Sealed", "We Got the Beat", and "Vacation".
Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. There is a light spot on the back, see pics.
