This concert tee comes from a 1986 showcase of obscure rock bands like The Wildest, Vicious Hippies, and the Sprinkle Family Band. It all went down at the Topanga Community House in Topanga Canyon, California.
Topanga is known to be a bohemian/artist community situated in the mountains between Malibu and Los Angeles- an art colony of artists and hippies surrounded by luxurious and consumerist neighbors in the hills. For decades the enclave has attracted a vibrant collective of musicians, artists, filmmakers, and people of the like.
In present day the vibe is still to some degree a variation of that. Back in the 1960s, Topanga was brimming with the presence of many talents we consider legends today like Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Etta James, Jim Morrison, and Neil Diamond. Whether they were residents of Topanga or simply spent a lot of time here, there was hardly a recognizable name in rock n roll who didn't have some sort of connection to Topanga.
This promo tee is a testament to the vibrant culture and music in Topanga which was still going strong in 1986. The awesome dinosaur graphic was probably custom drawn by a local illustrator and spotlights an array of local talent and businesses like Cafe Ole and a Rock n Roll Record shop. Today, Topanga continues embrace its rustic hippie roots and countercultural ways.
Fits like a modern unisex adult small.
