This classic baseball tee represents number 45 of the Birmingham Barons of the Minor League. Legendary basketball star Michael Jordan actually played for the this team in the 90s and wore this very number.
After securing his first three-peat with the Chicago Bulls, Jordan made an abrupt decision to retire from the NBA in 1993. Everyone was shocked, but he had expressed his growing exhaustion from constantly performing- he was not only a member of the Chicago Bulls but the Olympics Dream Team. And his growing fame was not slowing down anytime soon.
As if quitting basketball wasn't shocking enough, Michael then went on to begin his stint in baseball for the 1993-1994 season, signing with the Chicago White Sox of the Major League. One of his biggest reasons for pursuing baseball was to honor his father who was tragically murdered just months earlier.
For spring training, Jordan played with the Birmingham Barons, Chicago's minor league team. He played outfielder and rocked the no. 45 uniform. Jerry Reinsdorf (owner of the Bulls and White Sox) continued to honor Michael's basketball contract during this time. His basketball no. 23 was even retired and the Bulls held a ceremony that included erecting a sculpture in Jordan's honor, The Spirit. When he rejoined the NBA in 1995, he continued to wear his #45 just like he had in MLB.
Fits like a modern unisex adult large.
