This off-white t-shirt pays tribute to the professional baseball team the Chicago White Sox. Specifically the shirt highlights the 1919 team that were also known as the Black Sox due to their involvement in what would come to be known as the "Black Sox Scandal". The scandal accused White Sox players of purposely throwing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for monetary compensation from a gambling syndicate run by crime boss Arnold Rothstein. Eight Chicago players were consequently banned from professional baseball. They included Arnold Ganbdi, Eddie Cicotte, Claude Williams, Oscar Felsch, Charles Risberg, Fred McMullen, Buck Weaver, and Shoeless Joe Jackson. The scandal had a major influence on baseball history and has been referenced numerous times in pop culture like in the beloved sports film Field of Dreams.
