This awesome shirt has a neon recreation of a classic vintage pulp novel called Flesh Hammer. The tag line for the book reads "A lust-crazed fiend on the prowl with his..." and it shows a woman in lingerie standing before a man holding a claw hammer. The paperback novel was written by John Baxter in the early 60s. Pulp magazines and pulp novels were popular during the first half of the 20th century. They were named because of the cheap "pulp" paper that they were printed on and the stories inside were stacked with exciting and exploitative elements.

Pulp covers were typically printed on higher quality slick paper and they were often graced with half-naked women and muscular heroes. The genre created a number of famous illustrators that specialized in pulp covers. Some of the more notable artists included Margaret Brundage, Virgil Finlay, Norman Saunders, Hugh J. Ward, and Earle K. Bergey. Sometimes the covers for the novels were actually created first and then an author would be shown the artwork and asked to write a story that matched.
