This awesome vintage tee celebrates Mother's brand Circus Animal Cookies, known for their sugary sweetness and colorful icing and sprinkles. The history behind these nostalgic treats dates all the way back to 1914, when a newspaper vendor named Noah Wheatley purchased the rights to a cookie recipe from one of his customers. A year later Wheatley had opened his own small bakery on 12th Avenue in Oakland, California. The one man operation opened on May 9th, 1914 which was also the first day that President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother's Day.

By the 80s, the company had grown enough to bake over 17 million cookies a day, in order to meet the high demand for their delicious animal cookies. The company also changed hands many time over the years, until it was temporarily shut down in 2008. A year later, Kellogg took over and reignited production.

Fans of the cookies might also remember that the packages used to come with another special treat. From 1983 to 2002, Mother's Cookies came packaged with baseball cards featuring several Major League teams.
