This graphic tee commemorates a really cool slice of art history. In 1991, artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude launched their one-of-a-kind art installation called "The Umbrellas." It took place simultaneously in the valleys of California and Japan, where 12-18 miles of valleys were planked with umbrellas to reflect the similarities and differences in way of life and use of land.
The Japan installation ran through the 459 private properties and government agencies about 75 miles north of Tokyo. In California, "The Umbrellas" covered the property of the Tejon Ranch, 25 private properties, and some government agencies.
