This incredible vintage t-shirt is from the Vamperotica line, an awesome collection of gothic themed t-shirts that was produced in the 90s by the metal band Cradle of Filth. Cradle of Filth was first formed in 1991 in Suffolk, England and while they started as a black metal band, their style evolved greatly over time. Drawing influences from gothic literature, horror films, and other dark mythology, the band would eventually come to be described as extreme metal, thanks to their transgressive themes and elaborate stage shows.

Cradle of Filth released their second studio album in 1996, titled Dusk...And Her Embrace. The album was a hit with both critics and fans, and it greatly helped them to expand their fanbase. It was around this time that the group garnered additional attention for their controversial t-shirts, which they made available at their concerts. Many fans from around the time fondly remember walking around venues like the London Astoria and seeing droves of people sporting Vamperotica tees. The shirts reflected the dark themes found in Cradle of Filth's music and featured graphics from artists like Nigel Wingrove, whose work was also featured in the band's album art. Wingrove's gothic erotic images were exactly what the band was looking for, and the artist also became known for his horror film company, Salvation Films and publications like the fetish magazine, Skin Two.

One of the most infamous tees produced by Cradle of Filth and Wingrove was the highly controversial "Vestal Masturbation" tee which depicted a nun pleasuring herself and bore the message "Jesus is a C***". The shirt resulted in several fans getting arrested and fined for wearing it in public, and the design is even banned in New Zealand, but its shocking imagery perfectly represents the spirit of the Vamperotica brand. This amazing long sleeve shirt isn't nearly as obscene, but it does feature a haunting and sensual image of a vampire underneath a full moon and the words "Touch the pain, taste the fear, feel the hate" written on the front, back, and sleeves.
