This amazing ringer tee showcases Ron Sweed's beloved late night horror host character "The Ghoul", who used to appear on Cleveland, Ohio's Channel 61. The Ghoul was directly inspired by another Cleveland television personality, Ghoulardi, who was portrayed by Ernie Anderson. Sweed actually worked as Anderson's assistant, prior to developing his own horror host character. The pair met while Ghoulardi was giving a live show, which Sweed attended wearing a gorilla suit. The outlandish costume caught Anderson's eye and he wound up inviting Sweed to join him on stage.

The Ghoulardi character was retired in 1966, although Sweed tried convincing Anderson to revive him. Anderson had no interest in taking on the persona again, but he gave Sweed his blessing to do so on his own. Thus the Ghoul was born! 

The Ghoul Show premiered on Kaiser Broadcasting's station WKBF-TV in the early 70s, and was later syndicated to Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles as well. Sweed performed as The Ghoul for many decades, and he was a beloved figure amongst Cleveland and Detroit residents. His final performance was at the Redford Theatre in Detroit in 2015, just a few years before his death. His memory lives on however, as some of his famous catchphrases like "Overday!" and "Scratch glass, turn blue" are still quoted by folks who grew up watching his show.
