This awesome, double sided tee features a large graphic of coffee beans advertising Kona Coffee on the back. The front has a small graphic on the chest that reads, "Local Favorites Hawaii." Kona coffee is a specific kind of coffee cultivated on the slopes of the Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii. Only coffee grown in this area can be given the Kona label and it is one of the most expensive kinds of coffee in the world. The 60+ inches of rainfall, volcanic soil with slight acidity, and steady temperatures help create prime coffee growing conditions in this region.

The coffee plant was first brought to the Kona district in the 19th century from Brazil, After the world coffee market crash of 1899, large plantations had to lease plots to their workers, many of which were Japanese farmers. Coffee growing became a small, family run business with most farms being less than 5 acres. The Kona district maintains one of these older farms as an open-air museum called the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
