This amazing double-sided vintage t-shirt celebrates one of the biggest names in pop music, Madonna. The shirt is from the late 80s and it commemorates the singer's wildly successful fourth studio album Like a Prayer. The album was a confessional record, and Madonna worked with Stephen Bray, Patrick Leonard, and Prince to craft an album that was inspired by her relationship with her family including her father and her late mother, who had died when she was young.
The album included hit singles like "Express Yourself", "Cherish", "Oh Father", "Dear Jessie", and "Keep It Together", which were supported by a slew of creatively complex music videos that cemented Madonna as an influential master of the format. The video for the title track, "Like a Prayer", gained particular attention when it stirred religious controversy for its use of Catholic iconography. Scenes of Madonna dreaming about making love to a saint, caused the video to be condemned by the Vatican and motivated Pepsi to cancel the singer's sponsorship contract.
These religious protests were extended into the promotional tour for the album. Madonna's Blond Ambition Tour was launched in 1990, and it featured elaborate costumes, staging, brazen sexual dance numbers, and religious imagery all wrapped up into an electrifying spectacle. The extravagant concert was unique for its time and changed the pop culture landscape by introducing the idea of a concert as a theatrical event rather than just a performance of live music.
Fits like a modern unisex adult small. There are some light stains on the back, see pics.
