This amazing tee features a huge graphic of Darth Vader from the Star Wars movies. The graphic has big print that reads, "Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith." Darth Vader made his cinematic debut in the 1977 movie Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope. He's considered one of the most iconic and influential fictional villains of all time. Under the mask, he was portrayed by several actors throughout the Star Wars films but his iconic, deep and robotic voice came from James Earl Jones. His body actor throughout the original trilogy was actor David Prowse, who was reportedly very upset that his voice wasn't used in the final cut of the film. Furthermore, he and Jones never actually met, meaning Vader's voice and body were never in the same place during filming.
Star War's creator George Lucas holds Darth Vader near and dear to his heart. Lucas claims that Vader was the first Star Wars character he conceived. Vader is also the franchise's most profitable character. Between Halloween costumes, toys, figurines, posters, and other collectibles, Darth Vader has produced more profit for Lucasfilm than any other single Star Wars character. Vader also has had a profound cultural impact. He's parodied in Mel Brook's Star Wars spoof movie Spaceballs as the character Dark Helmet played by Rick Moranis. He's referenced in dozens of movies and TV shows and used as a point of comparison for critiquing political figures or leaders. There is even a species of insect, a chewing lice, named Ricinus vaderi after their head that's shaped similarly to Vader's helmet.
