This awesome shirt features the fictional 80s TV personality, Max Headroom who was billed as the "first computer-generated television personality". Despite this, Max was not actually computer-generated, he was portrayed by the real life actor Matt Frewer wearing four and a half hours worth of prosthetic makeup. Frewer was placed in front of hand drawn backgrounds and in order to achieve Max's stuttering speech pattern, editors used a harmonizer to randomly pitch the actor's voice up or down as if he were a glitching computer program.
Max Headroom made his debut in a made for TV movie titled Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future. The film was a British cyberpunk flick that provided a backstory for the character. Later on, a spin-off TV series was created and broadcast on British television, where Max served as a VJ for popular music videos. During the show's second season the premise was broadened to also include celebrity interviews and a studio audience. There was also a more story-driven spin-off made for American television which followed the plot of the TV movie.
This particular shirt references a Coca-Cola ad featuring Max and the tag line "Catch the Wave". The back has a logo that reads I-100, which may be referring to the New York classic rock radio station of the same name.
The tag says medium but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult small. There is a small spot on the shoulder, see pics.
