This cool vintage band tee is for a group called the Mahavishnu Orchestra, which was first formed in New York during the early 70s. When the band originated, its lineup consisted of Billy Cobham, Jan Hammer, Jerry Goodman, Rick Laird, and John McLaughlin. Their early work was praised for its complexity and eclectic influences, which included Indian classical music, jazz, and psychedelic rock.

The band's lineup has changed quite a bit over the years, but they've been known for featuring many artists that went on to have their own successful careers as jazz musicians. Some past members have included Gayle Moran, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stu Goldberg, Bill Evans, and Jim Beard.
