This awesome tee is a vintage original from Nike, and it proudly says "Nike Athletic Dept." This shirt was made in the mid 80s, when the company was on the rise. By the start of the decade, they had already acquired a 50% share in the American athletic shoe market, and their popularity only continued to increase.

It was in 1984, that Nike signed a marketing deal with NBA superstar, Michael Jordan and the Air Jordan line was released to the public the following year. Nike also strove to extend their appeal beyond just athletes and athletic apparel. In 1988 they  introduced their famous "Just Do It" ad campaign, which intended to target customers of all ages, genders, and physical fitness levels. The "Just Do It" slogan marketed Nike shoes as more than just fitness gear, but as fashion statements and tools for success.
