This awesome tee is from the Honolulu Marathon of 1981. This year the Marathon was sponsored by Nike. The world famous sportswear company Nike, had attained a 50% market share the year prior to this race and had just gone public!

Nike has since organized many marathons and half marathons but at the time Nike was still growing. And the Honolulu Marathon was growing too, the number of runners was around 7,200 but by the next year it would be all the way up around 12,200 entrants. It is unknown how many runners achieved the finisher title in 1981. However, the percentage of people who start and finish this particular marathon is higher than average.

The tag says Small, but the shirt fits like a modern women's extra small or XS. The Nike logo is on the left sleeve while wearing.
