This sweet 70s surf tee was made by the iconic brand Hobie Surfboards, and it features double-sided graphics celebrating the original Hobie Surf Shop located on the Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, California.
Named for its founder, Hobie Alter, the brand first began manufacturing surfboards in the 1950s. With the help of Gordon "Grubby" Clark they managed to revolutionize the surfboard market, by developing boards made from polyurethane foam, rather than the traditional balsa wood that had been used prior to the late 50s. Hobie later became interested in developing other watercrafts, and became famous for creating Hobie Cat's signature fiberglass catamaran. Still, the company never strayed away from making surfboards, and they also created a line of branded surf apparel for their loyal customers.
