This awesome vintage tee is for the song "Porn Wars" from the album Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention. The Zappa album came out in 1985 and the title was a reference to the Parents Music Resource Center or PMRC's campaign to get record companies to put warning labels on albums they considered offensive. It was also a nod to Zappa's former band the Mothers of Invention.
The song "Porn Wars" was only featured on the US version of the album. It was a twelve minute long sound collage that featured recordings of PMRC hearings. Zappa, who opposed the PMRC's views that references to sex, drugs, and violence should be removed from rock and roll, used the track to mock the irony of senators protesting against explicit lyrics by describing them in detail. Non-US versions of the album omitted the track and replaced it with three other songs "I Don't Care", "One Man, One Vote" and "H.R. 2911".
Frank Zappa was an American musician, composer, and bandleader whose music was characterized by non-conformity, free-form improvisation, and a satire of American culture. He also directed feature-length films and music videos. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame and was presented the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, although both honors were presented after his death in 1993. VH1 has ranked him number 36 on their list of 100 Greatest Artist of Hard Rock and Rolling Stone has named him number 71 on their list of "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".
