I.R.S. (International Record Sydicate) was an American record label dating back to 1979, giving the world iconic new wave and punk rock acts up until 1996. Among the most successful bands they worked with were The Go-Gos, Buzzcocks, Fleshtones, Cramps, and R.E.M..
One of the label's founders, Miles Copeland III, managed The Police during the era of their 1978 hit single "Roxanne". The band's success gave Copeland an opening with A&M co-owner Jerry Moss, and he convinced Moss to start I.R.S. the following year.
In 1994, IRS released a compilation album that highlighted some of their best releases from 1979-1994. Some of these unforgettable singles included "Only a Lad" (Oingo Boingo), "Mexican Radio" (Wall of Voodoo), and "68 Guns" (The Alarm). The label's legacy carries on thanks to the successes of their bands, loyal rock fans, and amazing collectibles like this vintage sweatshirt.
Fits like a modern unisex adult small. Sleeves and bottom are cut.
The list of bands goes on to include a multitude of rock favorites like Suburban Lawns, Jools Holland, English Best, Klark Kent, Humans, Alternative TV, Renaissance, Chelsea, Magazine, Mazda, Barry Diamond, Lords of the New Church, Henry Badowski, Tom Robinson, Eraserhead, Howard Devoto, and Payolas.
