This sweet shirt commemorates the 1981 Indy Mile held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. This flat track motorcycle race was sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association, and it was a part of the AMA Grand National Championship series.

In 1981, the Indy Mile was won by Hank Scott, a seasoned dirt track racer, who had just barely lost the Grand National title the year before. Scott won a total of 17 Grand National races throughout the 70s and 80s, with 1980 being his best season. That year he lost the championship to Randy Goss by a single point. Regardless, Scott was a legend among flat track racers, and he won the 1981 Indy Mile riding a Harley-Davidson.
