This vintage tee is an amazing part of LGBTQ history, and it comes from the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. This political rally took place on October 11 in 1987, and it involved around 750,000 people gathering to protest in favor of the gay community. This historic event marked the first time that national coverage was brought to the group known as ACT UP, a grassroots organization that fought for advocacy and treatment for those affected by HIV and AIDS.

This shirt uses imagery designed to promote the march, including the pink triangle, a historic symbol that has become synonymous with the gay liberation movement. The pink triangle is one of the most prominent symbols used by ACT UP, particularly for their SILENCE = DEATH campaign. This campaign was designed to bring attention to the AIDS crisis and the Reagan administration's neglect of the situation, which was also a major motivating factor behind the March on Washington. Another major motivator was  the Supreme Court's ruling in the case of Bowers v. Hardwick, which upheld sodomy laws that criminalized consenting sexual acts between two men.

The Second National March encouraged many participants to go home and start up their own local chapters of ACT UP. Beyond that, the event's anniversary continues to be celebrated across the nation as National Coming Out Day.

The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult large
