This amazing sweatshirt pays tribute to a local tv legend, The Ghoul from Cleveland, Ohio's Channel 61. Portrayed by Ron Sweed, The Ghoul first graced Channel 61 back in the early 70s, when it was occupied by the Kaiser Broadcasting station WKBF-TV. It turned, out the Ghoul was actually inspired by another local Cleveland personality, the host of Shock Theater Ghoulardi, who was portrayed by Ernie Anderson.
Sweed had worked as Anderson's production assistant before he chose to retire the Ghoulardi character in the mid 60s. While Anderson had no interest in ever reviving Ghoulardi, he gave Sweed his blessing to do so on his own, thus Sweed conceived his own horror host persona, The Ghoul. Throughout the 70s, The Ghoul entertained Cleveland's late night crowd with b-grade horror flicks that were punctuated by his zany humor.
This sweatshirt was made the following decade, in the 80s when Sweed's signature program, The Ghoul Show, was brought to WKBF's successor WCLQ-TV. During this period, the show was also syndicated on the Detroit station WXON.
Fits like a modern unisex adult large. There's a small spot on the collar, see pics.
