This incredible all over print t-shirt pays tribute to the Dream Team, the USA men's Olympic basketball team which took home the gold during the 1992 games. Often referred to as the "greatest sports team ever assembled", the Dream Team made quite a splash at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, as it was the first time that the US permitted active professional players from the NBA to compete. Thus the team's stacked lineup consisted of David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Scottie Pipen, Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Charles Barkely, and Magic Johnson. In the spirit of maintaining at least one amateur player, the team also included Duke University's Christian Laettner, and they were all coached by Chuck Daly.
 
The graphics on this shirt show off NBA all stars, Jordan and Johnson. Daly had suggested that Jordan serve as the public face of the team, considering he was already a massive star. However Jordan declined, and instead Bird and Johnson were selected as co-captains. This positive promotion came at a pivotal point in Johnson's career, as he just retired from the Los Angeles Lakers following his HIV diagnosis. The Dream Team's legendary showing at the Olympics wound up proving to Johnson that he still had a full life ahead of him.
