This sweet all over print shirt features an amazing sublimated print of George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Shirts with sublimated prints like this one were a fun novelty in the 1970s. The technique allowed for complex and detailed images to be printed onto shirts in full color and at a high resolution. This type of printing also protected graphics from fading, as it would infuse the dyes at a molecular level.

It's very likely that this particular shirt was made in celebration of the nation's bicentennial in 1976. From spring of 1975 until July Fourth of the following year, the United States held a wide variety of events to honor the nation's 200th anniversary. Patriotic merchandise such as this was eagerly produced in celebration of the country's founding.
